Český Krumlov

One afternoon in 2005, we stepped into an old town named Český Krumlov. On this place

our souls were quietly set free...

Once arriving Krumlov, we visited the castle settled on the hill. According to our guide,

the picture above was the best view...

On seeing the beautiful landscape, all of us were overexcited. However, it's hard to

combine the scenery and human image.

The picture above was so-called " the most beautiful fountain in Czech "

Are you kidding me?  This kind of little fountain...

Standing on the Plastovy Bridge ( na plášti ), also named The Cloak Bridge, which is a

sky porch on the high bridge, we gradually realized how fascinating this old town is...

It's the sculpture of poor St. Nepomuk on the Cloak Bridge...

The stone way to the lower castle area was a gentle slope.  People said that the

design allowed the knights to ride through the front hall nonstop to the Palace for the

convenience's sake.

From every corner of the small town, you may see the Hradek (Round Tower) standing

over there. It's the famous landmark of Krumlov, which is translated as "Colorfully Painted

Tower" in Mandarin in a lot of Taiwan tourist books as people know.

We took a joyful walk in the town as the night fell silently...

Being in Krumlov, we walked on the stone-paved path as if we had been back in the

remote Middle Ages. How marvelously!

Krumlov entered the UNESCO register of monuments of world significance in 1992, and

became one World Cultural Heritage.

There were a lot of shops in Krumlov. BOTANICUS, maybe the famous brand there in

Czech, sold nice essence soaps. Mosers sold expensive, delicate crystal work and so on.

It got darker and darker, we went back to the Hotel Ruze to prepare for the Costume

Show. It was really weird and messy.

The girls in charge of costume picked us "Poor Farmers" style, while others were dressed

as Princess or Prince. What the hell...

One Japanese Lady came in and asked how we could stay in this hotel. She said she

couldn't check in because it was full up, and she envied us. She travelld alone from

Budapest to here.

Next morning was a little chilly but cozy. From the backyard of Hotel Ruze, we saw

someone jogging along the river beside the woods. It must be a wonderful experience...

We were so lucky to have Hotel Ruze for accommodations. It was an old castle-like five

star hotel. Though the room was small, the atmosphere was old fashioned and charming.

We had no schedule until noon, and we were free to go anywhere in the town. What a

sweet morning in Krumlov!

First we revisited Dolni Hrad (the castle). Last night we had been here hoping for a cup of

coffee, but all the restaurants were closed early. Maybe due to the rainy & freezing night.

Look up at the Cloak Bridge from the ground. It was spectacular.

Then we came to the beautiful Vltava River. Walking along the river, Vltava seemed to

soothe our mind and souls into eternal peace. We would like to just keep walking and

never return...

That was an unforgettable morning... everything, even the air...

We walked back to the town and met some group members. We followed them to the

famous pencil shop "KOH-I-NOOR". By adding some water with finger scratching lightly,

the original sketch drawed by the magic pencil would turn into a painting.

After that we strolled aimlessly, and found the stairs uphill.

This stairway led to the Palace of upper castle. The flower carved on top of the doorway

was the symbol of the local royal family who had ruled Krumlov for hundreds of years.

The newlywed couple of our group told us that we could buy tickets to ascend the Round

Tower to get the best view of Krumlov. God blessed us!  What if we missed the couple.

Wow... What an unbelievable vision! The beautiful green top architecture was the Bell

Tower of St. Jodocus Church.

The Vltava River flows around the town constituting a heaven.

It was time for lunch, but the least thing we wanted to do was leave the top of the tower.

Therefore we called our guide by the mobile phone to inform her we wouldn't go for lunch.

What a dreamy town... Let the river carry our souls away...

The simple wooden bridge "Lazebnicky" added the flavor of South Bohemia. At this

moment, we fell in love with Krumlov...

The red & orange roofs made the town colorful and charming...

Being satisfied with the panorama view for half an hour, we were still reluctant but had to

stepped down the tower...

That's the wooden model of the Round Tower...

Down the rails were some bears, but we saw none...

One cute shop front... No idea what it sold...

Finally the blue sky appeared...  How could we easily say...  Good-bye, Krumlov...
